This month is very, very busy as so many outdoor tasks and household must dos are crying for our attention. It may mean painting, cleaning out garages for that sale, power washing the deck, cleaning windows and putting in screens, retrieving outdoor furniture from its winter storage location and the list goes on and on. Memorial Day is on the horizon and many of us anticipate the arrival of guests and planning for those festive cookouts. (more…)

CapeK9Cardio Presents Their 3rd Annual K-9 5K Trail Run/1 Mile Walk on July 1st 2012 to Benefit the Mashpee Dog Park

CapeK9Cardio began its pet sitting/dog walking business after Owner, Jason Michaud, noticed an improvement in the disposition of his Jack Russell Terrier after taking him on runs. Since then the business has grown to include a K-9 5K Trail Run or 1 Mile Walk to raise money for local dogs while emphasizing the importance of exercise for dogs. This year the 3rd annual event will be held on July 1st to support the ground breaking of the Mashpee Dog Park. Their mission is to promote responsible dog ownership and safe, legal off-leash recreation for dogs living in Mashpee and the surrounding areas.
CapeK9Cardio takes pride in providing the best possible pet care for Upper Cape Cod pet owners. They are a Bonded and Insured Cape Cod Pet Care Company covering Falmouth, Mashpee and most of Bourne MA. This year’s K-9 5K will feature pet friendly vendors, drawings and raffles for prizes and a special appearance.

Spring on the Cape is abundant with color, and so is prom 2012. Gather inspiration for your vibrant prom look from these eye catching designer dresses:
Tony Bowls Le Gala Dress 112517
For the adventurous girl, prom is a way to make a statement. This bold, attention grabbing dress catches your eye with a rhinestone-embellished waist before it flows gracefully to the floor in a bright floral pattern. You can rock this floral strapless dress in pink or purple tones.
Choose jewelry that shimmers to play off the rhinestone details, but don’t overdo it on the jewelry, as you don’t want to take away from the statement of the dress. Have fun with your hair style though, with either an elegant updo, or let your mane flow in exaggerated curls. Whichever you choose, you are sure to have all eyes on you on prom night. (more…)
April is the month that gardeners consider perhaps the ‘cruelest” to evoke an oft repeated sentiment. We get teased with sunny, milder days and our spirits soar as we dig in the dirt and observe the emerging growth of perennials and the swelling buds on trees and then we cringe as the next stretch of cold rainy weather sends us indoors again. However fickle she is, April gives us the opportunity to commemorate two special dates as we plan our garden activities; Earth Day on the 22nd and Arbor Day on the 27th. Why not combine these commemorative dates to honor our reverence for the earth by also planting a tree? What better way to say thank you and contribute to the beauty of our world?
Before setting out to your local garden center or nursery to pick out that ‘perfect ‘ tree do your homework. Here are some helpful suggestions and resources to aid in your selection. (more…)

The March equinox will occur at 05:14 (or 5:14am) Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on March 20, 2012. This marks the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere, and fall (autumn) in the southern hemisphere from an astronomical viewpoint. The March equinox is the movement when the sun crosses the true celestial equator – or the line in the sky above the earth’s equator – from south to north, around March 20 (or March 21) of each year. At that time, day and night are balanced to nearly 12 hours each all over the world and the earth’s axis of rotation is perpendicular to the line connecting the centers of the earth and the sun. All of us who love gardening anticipate this event and hope that the phrase “Spring on Cape Cod” is not an oxymoron this year. Predictions look favorable as we have just experienced one of the mildest winters on record and we can see the evidence of that blessing with the early arrival of snowdrops, crocus and daffodils emerging from the warmer soil. It won’t be long until forsythia, cherry trees and other early Spring shrubs and trees will reward our patience. (more…)
