Still trying to decide how you want to spend your Valentine’s Day and eve? For those last minute planners who want to enjoy a delicious meal with those you love, we have a selected a few of our favorite restaurants serving a special dinner package. We have also outlined a few fun and unique ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day Cape Cod style!
Why not celebrate Valentine’s Day in grand style at Mashpee Commons on Sunday, February 12 from 12-4pm! Surprise your loved ones with a romantic Horse-Drawn Carriage ride around the Commons, then catch a movie at Regal Cinemas or dinner and drinks at one of their award-winning restaurants. Provided by Paradise Stables of West Yarmouth, the carriages are beautiful white and black vis-à-vis limos, each pulled by two Percheron draft horses. The first 150 couples in line will receive a complimentary red rose from Verde Floral Design and a Red Hot goodie bag to help plan the special day. Each bag will be filled with gifts from our fine boutiques and restaurants including Roberto Coin, New Balance, Ghelfi’s Candies of Cape Cod, The Tinder Box, In the Pink and Bleu French Bistro. Pick-up and drop-off locations for the Carriage Rides will be located at the entrance to Williams Sonoma on Market Street. This is a free event and open to the public. (more…)
There is a lot going on around the cape this weekend! The big game is Sunday creating a fever pitch of energy around here of late, with lots of parties and other football related events happening. The Woods Hole Public Library at 581 Woods Hole Rd, continues their Kids Winter Film Series at 3pm on Saturday, February 4. This event is FREE and the film will be shown in the lower level meeting room. The Library cannot divulge the movie title in print but it is based on a honey-loving furry fellow from the book by A.A. Milne. He has become loved by generations of children, both here and in England, where he was created along with his friend Christopher Robin. A big hearty welcome to another Cape Cod weekend! It’s getting cooler out but if you pay close attention, you will notice the sun is shining just a bit longer each day. If you have the afternoon off today Friday, January 6 head over to The Brewster Ladies Library, 1822 Main Street, Brewster for their showing of the First Friday Foreign Film at 1:30pm in the Library Auditorium. I’ve Loved You So Long. Juilette Fontaine is a frail, haunted woman and an ex-doctor. Having served 15 years for an unspeakable crime, she’s back on the “outside.” With nowhere to go, she comes to live with her loving but estranged sister Lea. It’s the final few days of 2011, a time to celebrate our successes past and the potential for what is to come! Some may choose to ring in the New Year in a big way while others may choose to celebrate quietly with just a few loved ones. No matter your personal choice, mixed in amongst all of the festive New Year’s happenings there is plenty going on around the cape to satisfy all ages and cravings. Heritage Museums and Gardens, 67 Grove St. in Sandwich will be holding a Winter Family Fun Night at the Heald Center and Automobile Museum tonight December 29, from 6pm until 8:30pm. Come and enjoy a special viewing of Toy Story! Kids can come in pajamas and bring a blanket and stuffed animal to spread out and enjoy the film. Concessions will be available. Tickets are $6 for members 3 and older; $8 for non-members 3 and older and free for infant-2 years old. Tickets are available at door this evening. (more…)
It’s the last full weekend before Christmas, a frantic time for some who still need to finish their holiday shopping … and some who still need to start! Don’t forget to take a break from the crowds and over-stimulation, to enjoy some of the events happening around the cape this weekend. Pick up some last minute gifts and stocking stuffers which will be for sale to support programs at the Barnstable Senior Center. Friday, Saturday and Sunday from dusk until 9:00pm you can catch the Cape Cod Enchanted Village at the Cape Codder Resort and Spa 1225 Iyannough Road, Hyannis. This is the resort’s 10th annual Enchanted Village and includes over 100,000 holiday lights; animated reindeer, snowmen and much more. Friday and Saturday December 9 and 10 at a 6:30 pm dinner theatre, you can catch Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”, presented by the Elements Theatre Co, and enjoy a traditional English Banquet, caroling, and live music of London in 1843. A very happy Cape Cod weekend to all! The air is crisp and the daylight hours are lessening with each day passing. This time of year celebrates the coming of the holidays and more time spent indoors enjoying the people and events we love. For theatre buffs there is quite a selection of shows to catch along with various other goings on around the cape with a little something for everyone. Celebrating America the Beautiful – 14th annual dinner dance Friday the 4th of November 6pm-11pm at the Coonamessett Inn 311 Gifford St, Falmouth, planned by the John Wesley United Methodist Church.
